Handling Damaged Baggage Issues

Learn how to handle issues related to your damaged baggage effectively in this brief article.

Traveling can be really fun (pleasure traveling that is, not business travel) to do yet you can tend to forget all the excitement and fun because of an issue such as damaged baggage. More often than not, airline issues such as damaged luggage are quite common. I am sure you are not surprised to hear that. Many however donít seem to mind this fact because they think that it could never happen to them. But what if this happened to you? Do you know what to do?

It can really be inconvenient having damaged or lost baggage. It can certainly ruin your vacation of whatever the purpose of your travel. The best thing that you could do is to learn how to avoid getting into baggage related issues. But even then, certain things are inevitable. And because of that, you must be aware of the steps you should take when you are faced with this kind of a problem.

The following are some things that you can do to keep away from damaged baggage issues:
  • Before you travel, it is very important that you put a tag on your bag. It must be a tag with complete information about you as the owner so in case it is lost, it will be given back to you. It would also be easier for you to identify your luggage if it has a distinguishable tag.

  • Itís always a good option to try luggage shipping. Pack all the things that you need in the luggage and let the shipping services carry and deliver your luggage to your final destination. You can save a considerable amount of money by doing this and aside from that you are also assured that your luggage is safe (or safer).

And in the event that your baggage is damaged, some or all of the items that you had packed for your vacation might be damaged as well. In this case, always remember that there will be no airline reimbursements to customers for any damage unless it is proven as a liability of the airline.

Take a picture of your baggage before departing and right when you land. Make sure the time stamp is on so that one can tell when the picture was taken. This is a sticky situation for you as a passenger because airlines get away with this too often. Itís just way too easy for them to do so. Even if you complained, they could simply ignore your complaint. What to do in this situation?

Well I have been there and done that (forced the airlines to reimburse me fully). That is why I wrote the Sue the Airline book, a guide that is practical and easy to follow. The guide walks you through exactly how to collect the compensation you are owed by airline companies. Equipped with the right knowledge, you can get your money back, all on your own without having to spend a lot of time or money pursuing your damaged baggage complaint.
